Why We’re Not Your Average Personal Trainers: Meet Your Personal Health Coach
Home » Fitness  »  Why We’re Not Your Average Personal Trainers: Meet Your Personal Health Coach
A traditional personal trainer can help you exercise consistently, improve your form, and build strength. That is valuable. But what happens when your results stall? Maybe your energy is low. Your recovery is poor. Your weight will not budge. You are dealing with high cholesterol, unstable blood sugar, sleep problems, hormone concerns, or digestive discomfort. A standard workout plan may not explain why. At Posh Fitness, we take a broader view. Peter Marino is not only your personal trainer. He is your personal health coach: helping connect how you train, eat, recover, age, and respond to your unique biology. The goal is simple: help you improve your health, increase or preserve muscle mass, feel better, and build a plan that makes sense for your entire body.

The Problem With One-Size-Fits-All Training

Many training programs begin with the same basic formula:
  • A generic workout schedule
  • General nutrition advice
  • A few measurements
  • Periodic check-ins
  • Little connection to your medical or biological data
That approach can work for some people. However, it does not always address the factors affecting your results. Your genetics may influence how you respond to certain foods, caffeine, exercise, or supplements. Your bloodwork may reveal issues involving glucose, cholesterol, inflammation, nutrient status, or hormones. Your biological age profile may show that one body system needs more attention than another. These details do not replace professional medical care. They provide context. Our job is to use that context responsibly, combine it with your real-world results, and help you make better decisions. DNA Testing and Coaching: Moving Beyond Guesswork

Your DNA is not a destiny or a pass-fail report. It is one piece of information that may help us ask better questions. Through our partnership with Genetic Direction, you can complete an at-home DNA swab. The most encompassing test offered through our program analyzes 123 genetic markers and scores 34 traits, according to the Genetic Direction and Posh Fitness program materials (Genetic Direction, n.d.; Posh Fitness, n.d.). The report may provide insight into areas such as:
  • Nutritional tendencies
  • Exercise response
  • Recovery patterns
  • Weight-management traits
  • Micronutrient needs
  • Caffeine or food-related responses
  • Supplement considerations
Peter Marino is an ISSA-certified DNA Fitness Coach and holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. After your results are available, you receive a 20-minute counseling session to review the major findings. You can then choose weekly 20- to 30-minute coaching sessions for four to twelve weeks. Through the Posh Fitness app, you may receive:
  • Personalized workouts
  • Nutrition and meal suggestions
  • Supplement recommendations
  • Progress tracking
  • Text and email support
  • Ongoing coaching between sessions
Use the code poshfitness when ordering the test. This helps you receive the available discount and ensures Peter can coach you through the results. It is important to keep expectations realistic. Current research does not support treating consumer DNA reports as a substitute for clinical testing or as a perfect predictor of weight loss, athletic performance, or training response. Genetic findings are best used as additional context alongside your habits, symptoms, measurements, and professional judgment (Williams et al., 2017). That is exactly how we use DNA: as one tool in a larger strategy.

SystemAge Testing: Looking at Biological Aging

Chronological age tells you how many birthdays you have had. Biological age attempts to provide additional information about how your body is aging. These measurements are not magic, and they are not a medical diagnosis. However, they may help you identify areas worth discussing with your healthcare team and addressing through lifestyle changes. The Generation Lab SystemAge test uses an epigenetic approach. According to Generation Lab, its panel analyzes approximately 460 biomarkers across 19 organ systems. The test uses DNA methylation data and a measurement called biological noise, or BioNoise, to estimate aspects of systemic aging (Generation Lab, n.d.). The organ systems listed by the SystemAge program include areas such as:
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Brain health and cognition
  • Muscular and skeletal systems
  • Metabolism
  • Blood sugar and insulin
  • Inflammation
  • Liver and digestive function
  • Immune function
  • Respiratory health
  • Reproductive health
DNA methylation is an area of active aging research. Methylation-based biological age measures have been studied as potential indicators of aging and health risk, although no single test can predict your future with certainty (Horvath, 2013). Generation Lab’s scientific materials reference research published in journals including GeroScience, Nature, and Aging. They also identify Dr. Irina Conboy as Chief Scientific Officer and list support from prominent longevity researchers, including Dr. George Church and Dr. David Sinclair. These credentials are part of the company’s scientific background, but your results should still be interpreted carefully and in the proper medical context. At Posh Fitness, the practical question is: What can you do with the information? If your SystemAge report highlights a need to improve metabolic health, recovery, strength, sleep, or inflammation-related habits, we can build those priorities into your coaching plan. Bloodwork Gives Us a Current Snapshot

DNA generally remains stable throughout your life. Bloodwork shows what is happening in your body now. That difference matters. When you share appropriate bloodwork with Posh Fitness, Peter can help organize the information and use it to guide lifestyle and fitness discussions. Depending on your healthcare provider’s testing, this may include:
  • Cholesterol and triglycerides
  • Blood glucose and A1C
  • Liver and kidney markers
  • Inflammation markers
  • Iron and vitamin status
  • Thyroid markers
  • Testosterone and other hormones
  • Nutritional indicators
We do not diagnose disease or replace your physician. We also do not tell you to ignore an abnormal result. Instead, bloodwork can help us identify useful questions:
  • Should your training volume be adjusted?
  • Are recovery and sleep receiving enough attention?
  • Does your nutrition support your goals?
  • Should you discuss a hormone or metabolic concern with your doctor?
  • Are supplements appropriate, unnecessary, or potentially unsafe?
  • Would follow-up testing help track progress?
Research shows that resistance training and nutrition can influence body composition, metabolic health, lipids, and inflammatory markers. However, lab values must be interpreted alongside your medical history, medications, symptoms, hydration, and recent training load (Kraemer et al., 2005). This is why we do not build a plan from one number. We look for patterns. Visual showing how Posh Fitness combines DNA and bloodwork into personalized health protocols

Working With GameDay Men’s Health

For some male clients, exercise and nutrition are only part of the conversation. Hormonal health may also need to be evaluated. Posh Fitness works with GameDay Men’s Health so clients can explore clinician-guided medical options alongside health coaching. Depending on the client’s evaluation and eligibility, GameDay offers services that may include:
  • Testosterone replacement therapy
  • Testosterone pellet therapy
  • Peptide therapy
  • Sermorelin peptide treatment
  • Weight-management treatments
  • Other men’s health services
GameDay’s medical professionals are responsible for evaluation, prescribing, treatment decisions, and ongoing monitoring. Posh Fitness does not prescribe testosterone, peptides, or hormone replacement therapy. That boundary is important. For example, testosterone therapy should be considered only after a qualified clinician evaluates symptoms, confirms consistently low testosterone levels, reviews medical history, and discusses benefits and risks. Clinical guidelines recommend appropriate follow-up monitoring, including testosterone levels and hematocrit (Bhasin et al., 2018). Our role is to help connect the medical and lifestyle sides:
  • The clinician manages medical treatment.
  • Peter helps coordinate training, nutrition, recovery, and habit support.
  • You receive a clearer plan for applying healthy behaviors day to day.
Medical treatment is not a replacement for strength training, protein intake, sleep, or cardiovascular fitness. It is also not appropriate for everyone. The right approach depends on your health history and your clinician’s recommendations.

What You Actually Receive

With Posh Fitness, you are not simply purchasing workouts. You are receiving a coordinated health and fitness experience that may include:

  2. DNA coaching Genetic information used as one additional input for nutrition, fitness, and supplement conversations.
  3. SystemAge insights A broader view of biological aging and organ-system priorities.
  4. Bloodwork-informed protocols Lifestyle recommendations shaped by relevant lab data and conversations with your medical providers.
  5. Nutrition and supplement guidance Practical strategies that fit your preferences, routines, and health goals.
  6. Medical partnership Access to a clinician-led pathway through GameDay Men’s Health when hormone or peptide treatment may need to be evaluated.
  7. Ongoing accountability App-based tracking, coaching sessions, text and email support, and adjustments as your body responds.
This is what makes our approach different from a regular training relationship.

Whether you want in-home support or national virtual coaching, our goal is the same: provide elite personal training and ultra personal training that considers more than your workout.

That is the Posh Fitness model. Peter Marino will guide you through the process, help you understand your information, and coordinate the lifestyle side of your health journey. No insane workouts. No confusing protocols. Just thoughtful coaching, better questions, and a plan built around you.
